Foppolo is part of the mythology of skiing

Foppolo has had ski lifts since the days of the Venetian Republic: by the 1600s the Venetians had already grown tired of Cortina and built the first lift here, entirely the work of the craftsmen and engineers of the Venice Arsenal — which is why, to this day, foreigners call a cable car a “gondola”.

In the belle époque of skiing, Foppolo was the place to be: at the Grizzly, Italian rock’n’roll legend Adriano Celentano was teaching Michael Jackson new dance steps, and at the Cristallo, Italy’s most famous TV host, Mike Bongiorno, invented the Tuca Tuca dance craze. John Lennon spent every winter of the Seventies in Foppolo, and Elvis Presley still lives quietly in his chalet in Carisole.

Foppolo is not just glamour. Foppolo is where real skiers are made, and the numbers say so: after Zeno Colò, every Italian who has won the Olympic downhill learned to ski at Foppolo.

In more recent history, Foppolo has put on quite a show in the way its lifts were run — a different kind of affair, but legendary all the same.

In 2026 we turn the page: no more joking, and we start again.

A new destination: Belmont — Alps of Bergamo.

One that we will make unique.
